The granulation process and possible malfunctions of the equipment

Granulation involves the compression of bulk raw materials in the space between the roller and the surface of the matrix. Under the influence of moisture, heat and pressure, the food acquires thermoplastic properties and is squeezed out through the holes, taking the form of granules.

During the production of mixed fodder, the resources of the matrix and the shell of the pressing roller are exhausted. Because of this, failures begin to occur in the operation of the device, and the quality of the resulting products deteriorates.

Possible problems:

  • matrix damage;
  • uneven wear of its surface;
  • drilling holes;
  • roller wear;
  • reaming countersink.

Repair of granulator matrices

Matrices, through the holes of which the granules pass, are of two types:

  2. Cylindrical (OGM, DG and other types). The press chamber contains a ring die rotating at high speed, and inside it there are press rollers.

The hole diameter is 2-19 mm, and the matrices themselves can be either small (with a power of 15 kW) or large (with a power of up to 600 kW). The quality of the steel from which the matrix is ​​made, the length of the working channel and how well the holes are ground are also of great importance.

The repair of granulator matrices includes the following works:

  • cleaning holes from the product;
  • grinding the surface of the matrix;
  • countersinking holes;
  • deepening of relief grooves (if necessary);
  • sewing the collars (if necessary).

Restoration of the pressing roller or shell:

  • grinding the shell;
  • perforation;
  • collection and preservation of the video.
